One Day before 2009 and one of the biggest stories of the year. Hudson and her family hopefully can find some comfort in knowing the man who has done this will most likely spend the rest of his life behind bars. The man accused of killing Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew back on Oct. 24 has been formally indicted on murder and home invasion charges after appearing in Chicago court for a brief hearing this afternoon.
The 27-year-old William Balfour, who along with his attorney continues to deny his involvement in the slayings of 57-year-old Darnell Donerson, 29-year-old Jason Hudson and 7-year-old Julian King, is currently being held without bond on a parole violation at Illinois' Stateville Correctional Center. Jennifer Hudson was scheduled to begin shooting the video for her next single, "If It Isn't Love" next week, but has put the brakes on going back to work. Reports surfaced earlier this week that JHud had decided to return to work, because she had been on hiatus since the October killings of her mother, brother and nephew. A source tells Us Weekly, "The video was set up before the tragedy and she felt like she should finish what she started, but she's realized that she's not ready to go back to work." A rep for Hudson, however, calls the original video plans speculation. Jennifer's brother-in-law William Balfour was officially charged with the murders December 2.

William Balfour, the estranged brother-in-law of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson, has been arrested in Illinois in the deaths of the singer’s mother, brother, and 7-year-old nephew. Balfour, a convicted felon, was arrested Monday at a prison where he is being held on a parole violation.
According to a spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department, the 27-year-old Balfour, who has been in custody since the October 24 slayings on a parole violation, was transferred to Chicago police custody on Monday (December 1), after being served with an arrest warrant.
Balfour was later transported to the Wentworth area, where he will be held pending approval of the charges by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.
During a closed hearing last month, investigators presented evidence that Balfour had a gun matching the weapon used in the murders; he was scheduled for another parole violation hearing on Wednesday.
The bodies of Hudson's mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, and older brother, Jason, were discovered inside the home Hudson grew up in on Chicago's South Side on November 24. Donerson was 57 years old, and Jason was 29. Julian King, Hudson's young nephew, was reported missing soon after. Julian's body that was found in an SUV on Chicago's West Side the following Monday. All three victims died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Jennifer Hudson family to be buried yesterday. A week after they were found shot to death, three members of singer Jennifer Hudson’s family will be buried in Chicago. Funeral services for Hudson’s mom Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and nephew Julian King will be held today. No one has been charged in the killings, but a man who was once close to the family remains in custody. William Balfour, estranged husband to the singer’s sister, is being held on a parole violation and is believed to have information about the deaths. Meanwhile, police reportedly are investigating whether the murder weapon may have once belonged to Jason Hudson. Police say his gun was stolen from the house a few months ago and could be a match for the gun used in the killings.
Oprah Winfrey, Missy Elliott, Patti LaBelle, Clive Davis, and Queen Latifah were among the hundreds of mourners who filled the Apostolic Church of God for the ceremony to celebrate the lives of Jennifer’s mother Darnell Donerson, her brother Jason, and her 7-year-old nephew, Julian King.
Fellow “American Idol” alum Fantasia Barrino performed “Your Grace and Mercy” at the open casket funeral service, while the Reverend Jesse Jackson and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley both spoke. Fantasia called the Hudsons “my family” and walked off the stage where she took her friend’s hand and sang directly to her.
After a procession of three hearses and a horse-drawn trolley carrying her nephew’s coffin, Jennifer entered the church with her fiancé, David Ortunga. As the two-hour wake came to an end, Jennifer approached her family members’ coffins and spent a few moments with each. She leaned down to kiss her mother goodbye at one point.
The Oscar-winner has reportedly been staying at Oprah’s East Lake Shore Drive condo in Chicago during this difficult time.

Jennifer Hudson Announces Foundation for Murder Victim Families...Family to be laid to rest on Monday..!!

Jennifer Hudson family announced Thursday a new foundation for families of murder victims. The Hudson-King Foundation for Families of Slain Victims is named in honor of the singer-actress's slain mother Darnell Hudson Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and nephew Julian King. 
"The specific purpose of the Foundation is to care for the needs of families who have lost relatives to a violent crime," the family says in a statement. "This encompasses their basic needs of food, clothing and shelter as well as grief counseling."
Donations to the Hudson-King Foundation can be sent: c/o Abrams Garfinkel Margolis Bergson, LLP Attn: William L. Abrams, Esq. 237 West 35th Street, 4th Floor New York, NY 10001The foundation announcement followed a prayer vigil Wednesday night in Chicago. The service will be for invited guests only and, in lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the newly created Hudson-King Domestic Violence Protection Fund.
While Jennifer and her sister Julia Hudson won't be there, the service will bring together the neighborhood to grieve the loss they've suffered.

She also spoke about his arrest for possession of drugs while on parole. She told Grace that Julia put the drugs in the car to set Balfour up because he didn’t want to be with her. She says William left the house and Julia wanted him back. I understand loving and supporting your child but if he did this………and your talking about the victims….that’s so so wrong!

Cops sent 100 personnel to search the area where the body of 7-year-old Julian King was found. A handgun was found in an abandoned lot, about a block away from where the vehicle with Julian's body inside was parked.
Cops believe this is the weapon used in all three murders.

Sources say police arrived at the scene at about 1 p.m. Wednesday after getting a tip that the white SUV was seen driving through the vacant lot over the weekend, and someone saw a gun being thrown from the vehicle.“When I heard it on the news, I said Kolin — that’s where I saw the truck come and park,” said Lawndale resident Amanda Archie.

The truck was found about 13 miles from Jennifer Hudson’s childhood home where the bodies of her mother and brother were found shot to death early Friday.
A neighbor called police at 3 am this morning to report the vehicle had been in the neighborhood
William Balfour, who is estranged from Hudson’s sister Julia Hudson, wassince Saturday. The neighbor looked in the truck’s window and spotted the decomposing body of a boy. .
arrested late Friday at the home of his pregnant girlfriend — a few miles from
where the truck was found.
Balfour was released to the dept. of corrections
early Sunday for violating his probation in a case unrelated to the murders. He
was not charged
The truck was towed from the scene an hour ago. A Chicago police spokesman released no information about the discovery.
An Amber Alert was issued Friday after Julian was reported missing after a family member found his grandmother and uncle shot to death inside the family’s home in the 7000 block of South Yale Avenue.

Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were shot to death Friday in their home. The child, Julian King, has been missing since. Rumors circulated the Internet on Friday saying that Julia was missing, but that was not the case.
Police issued an Amber Alert for Julian and asked residents to look out for a 1994 white Chevrolet Suburban with Illinois license plate X584859. Julian is described as being 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds. He was wearing a striped brown polo shirt and khaki pants when last seen, authorities said in the Amber Alert. According to reports, suspect, William Balfour was taken into custody Friday for questioning. His mother, Michele Davis-Balfour insists that he is innocent.

William Balfour, the estranged husband of Hudson's sister, Julia, is in custody but isn't talking. Balfour spent nearly 7 years in prison for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and possession of a stolen vehicle. Here's the most interesting thing -- neighbors in the area who know the family well say a few weeks ago a family member tried stealing a car, which triggered a heated argument in which the would-be thief promised revenge. No one was named specifically, but Balfour pictured below with Jennifer Hudson sister Julia.

Several other neighbors this morning who say Julia complained to them that William Balfour sold one of their cars without permission. One neighbor told TMZ the dispute got so heated William threatened to
"kill Julia's family"but she didn't report it because she didn't take it seriously.
As for the dispute over the car being the trigger, our sources say cops are pursuing the lead but are looking at everything. Sad part is members at the church where the tight-knit family worshiped said Jennifer Hudson offered to move her mother out of the area, but Donnerson refused to leave. It wasn't the neighborhood that caused this it was a family member.
The star is asking for privacy in her time of grief. Her Web site jenniferhudsononline.com is already filled with condolence notes.
